Kids and Cannabis: ResponsiTech and YSTF Launch Its Youth Safety Solutions at the NCIA Business Summit

July 18, 2018 - (Redondo Beach CA) -- ResponsiTech will help keep kids and cannabis separate. It is run by youth protection veterans with over 100 years of combined experience. It will assist the cannabis industry as it enters a new stage of commercialization by providing technical solutions to a complex problem: how to reduce illicit youth access of cannabis.

The company has a suite of technological solutions to address youth access, including a website parental filtering labeling system, state-of-the-art age verification technology and age-restricted ad buying and digital media services.

Together these solutions will not only shield the cannabis industry from regulators concerned about youth access but also ensure a more effective and efficient use of resources to reach customers. It demonstrates the industry’s ability to self-regulate and comply with government restrictions with regards to youth safety.

“Since 2002 we helped another marginalized industry protect children and demonstrate to governments that industry can self-regulate. For example, our parental filtering label was recognized with international and legislative recognitions including from Congressperson Jane Harman, Cities of San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles and California State Senate and Assembly representatives. We are pleased to bring our technology, services, and expertise to the cannabis industry.” said Joan Irvine, CEO & Co-Founder ResponsiTech.

To coincide with the NCIA Business Summit, ResponsiTech is launching its Youth Safety Plan for applications and announcing the establishment of an independent policy council, the Youth Safety Technology Foundation (YSTF). ResponsiTech will conduct a “Protecting Your License by Protecting Youth’ workshop at the Retail & Dispensary Lounge on July 26, 12:30 - 2:00 PM.

The YSTF has been set up specifically to identify current and future youth safety issues and develop guidelines and best practices for tackling them. The foundation boasts an international group of policy advisors, including Australian Member of Parliament Fiona Patten, law enforcement representative Diane Goldstein, privacy legal expert Frederick Lane, and business leaders in technology, policy and cannabis.

ResponsiTech members have access to the company's current and future technological solutions and gain a voice in the YSTF so they can assist in recognizing and resolving future issues as the cannabis industry evolves.
